Default 6.0 Engine build...need rolling stock advice!

I'm putting a 6.0 LQ9 inot my Avv. I want to put forged pistons, rods, new cams, rollers, springs...etc. Obviously some stuff works better than others together. I'm gonna want to keep compression around 9.5 - 10:1 as I'll be putting a Radix on it and pushing 8-10lbs boost. I will be blueprinting and balancing the engine and rolling stock as well, and making sure the new heads are machined perfectly straight to the block. I have no interest in just throwing a ton of $ at this, but wud rather buy smart. This will be my daily driver and will do daily cold starts and short drives to the train, with 300+ mile hway on weekends. So, a mild cam is likely my target in the 1500-5500/5800 rpm range. I cud easily spend 8-10g's but I'dlike to keep it inside 4g's - including the block, + install costs. I will have it dyno'd and broke in on the stand before I drop it in. ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME. R/

Check out turbomustangs.com someone just put a decent sized turbo onto a LQ9 with stock internals. I'm kinda curious to see how it turns out.

briefly considered a turbo, but I already have the radix, so why spend more...but if I build this right it might wprk for both with only minor changes. R/

You can run those boost levels on the stock LQ9 internals from now til kingdom come, so you might consider spending that forged internals money elsewhere (unless you just want to do it), like getting a custom dyno tune and a nice set of heads. I ran up to 12psi on mine with only meth as the intercooler.

I think Vinci's 062 (210/218) would meet your goals on the cam. I'd give Joe or Roger a call.

Thnx...already got the custom tune on the go. Don't want to spend it if I don't need to, but assume at least another 80hp's from a forged component train. Is it true or am I dreaming with that estimate? Cheaper to put the parts now than after the fact. All I was gonna keep was the crank unless someone suggested i stroke it - which I'm thinking of!

if you keep stock sizes forged internals will not add hp but will be stronger than stock to hold up to more power. Forged pistons and rods maybe lighter than stock wich will help build a little hp, also having the motor balanced will add a little hp due to reducing the vibration in the motor.

I have the Vinci 062 cam in my LQ4 with 6-7 psi from the radix. Our trucks are close in weight as well. I think you will be very happy with it. There is no lack of torque. See those big *** tires on my rig? I can spin them all the way through first, if I remember to turn off the traction control, LOL!

But...I've been running this setup for over 3 months and now I need more power so I'm gonna slap on the 2.75" pulley and some meth injection It's never enough is it?

My ultimate goal was 425-450rwhp, but I seriously think I might stroke this thing and make the HP's a little easier to achieve. Nothing replaces cubes, so a little boring might be in order if I'm doing all this. Any idea how much larger I can go while staying very conservative? 4.050?

what kind of numbers are u getting? U only did the cam? How about the tranny? I was planning on a 4l65e rebuild or a 4l80e upgrade, depending what I can find at the used bin. R/

I don't have any numbers yet. When I did the 6L swap I put in the Vinci 062 cam and dual springs with titanium retainers. The tranny was already a fully built 65E. I am hoping to see 500rwtq.
