5.7 confuse

Hello. I am trying to research some info for 5.7 piston and rods put in my 5.3. I dont know what size do I need to bore. Also I know that 5.3 crankshaft needs to be rebalance as well. Is there anyone can help me out correct number of pistion and rods. I think I need to use 3.898 for piston.. I would mind to buy I beam rods. Any matters find cheap $ and able to make forged strong. I want look for n/a motor and later turbo. Which I need find correct piston and rods. I need to know which I need to run flat, dish, or dome piston. Also I would like to use all arp bolts. Is anyone willing to help me out with some good info. I still confuse with a number of piston, rods which need match for 5.7 which I able put in my 5.3 LM7 Block. Here the link what im look at-www.sdparts.com

Does anyone speak Jive? I'm in need of a translator in order to help in this thread. I did the 5.3L to 5.7L bore-over and could be of some use if I understood what the question was.
Great Jive video on youtube.

You need 3.905 bore to use forged pistons Luke. With 317 heads and the -8.6 cc diamond pistons you will have a C.R. of 8.8-1. If you use -2cc pistons and 317 heads you will have 9.4 -1 C.R.

So the block would need to bore 3.905 correct? But I need to know what number I can find I Beam Like (I-Beam 6.125) or something. There is several different numbers of rods.

I would recommend getting 317's if you are running boost later. Piston choices are limited staying at stock 3.898 bore size. Most choices are available for the 3.905. I recommend using Mahle pistons. You can run one thousandths clearance on their forgeed pistons to eliminate any noise issues. Your stock crank should work fine as it is. Most Mahle pistons use the 6.125 rod with .927 pin. Good Luck!!

3.898 is the standard bore size for a stock 346. 3.905 is the over bore, or clean up size. So consequently there is more pistons made in the over bore size since that's what most LS1's being rebuilt will be honed to. Its like taking a 6l (364ci, 4.00 bore) and boring .030 (4.030 bore) which make a 370ci Make since?

I read alot 5.7 from other thread. it got me so confused. I just really want to learn how it work as well. More likely I have to get 317 heads. Which I need to know to find correct forged piston to match for 317 heads. What number cr would be. I just like to find cheap $ for piston n rods. I think I could get scat I beam. But still struggles with piston. If somebody willing try explain to me more clear so I able to understand and able to make right decision to pick one. I could get 317 heads from Texas speed performance if they have one. Make sure you know that I want Na to built engine for now and drive for a while. Until I feel ready to buy turbo so I not have to worry about change piston etc. But one problem Im worry about gasket have to get special one since of heads, and piston? Or still able to buy OEM flepro gasket?
