Buy the tubular Xmember from guy here at PT.net.
Repinning your plug is easy, or buy the conversion harness.
get a JY drive shaft. no modding required.
I was hoping you wouldn't say that, but it seems to be the consensus. I read that one guy had rebuilt his 4 times, two would be enough for me :-)

What about the 65? Ive read its better, but maybe still not worth the time as a reliable DD with some boost.

I need to look into a thread for the repinning and the JY driveshaft. I'm a welder so I will just modify the factory xmember.

This is why I love forums. I hope to pay it forward with my knowledge on my experiences or if someone wants to know anything about welding.

This doesn't look that easy. Modifications like this concern me as a DD. I would like to look for someone who might make a kit or adapter. Electrical has not been my friend in the past.

60, 65, same case. same problems. same torque rating. same boom boom.
it sucks *** to be forced to do a trans swap, when we want powa. but its just one of those things.

Ahhhh, thats what I'm talking about. The added cost is worth the ease of mind in reliability.

Thanks!!!

Good info in here, I'm looking to build a rcsb turbo 5.3 and this helped alot as I know nothing about these engines yet. Whats the deal with using the stock 4.8 cam? Is it good for a boosted DD?

Depending on how much boost you want to run, you may not need to do anything with the motor.

You can jack my thread, as long as I can keep learning that's fine. I've been wanting to get a 5.3 truck, but found a nice 4.8. If all the parts swap over to a 6.0 or 5.3 why would it matter if I start off with a 4.8?
