2010 6.0 LS Relucter wheel
I have a 2010 6.0 Ls. I'm going to make it carburetored. My question is that it was originally a 58 thooth. It needs a crank. I found one but its 24 tooth. How hard is it to change. Or could I keep it 24 tooth and just order a mad 6ls box for a 24 tooth and change the crank sensor to a 24 tooth

Did you receive the harness and ECM for this 2010 motor? Assuming the cranks are otherwise identical you could have the reluctor wheel swapped... keeping the 58x. Any reputable machinist who has experience with GENIII/IV engines should have the alignment tool and know-how to perform the swap. That would be the easiest IMO...

What engine management controller are you going to use? Its been awhile since I've been in the market or followed controllers but last I knew if you had a motor with a 58x reluctor wheel then you have to stick with it unless you change out the cam/cam sprocket and all the sensors... expensive. This is why I believe it would be cheaper for you just to swap the crank and reluctor wheel... this assuming there is no other damage(?) to the motor you have.

I have never heard of a controller that can accept a 24x reluctor wheel on an otherwise unchanged 2010 motor. Maybe there is a controller out there now that has that flexibility but I wouldn't know who makes it.
Cam position sensing changed when GM changed from a 24x to a 58x reluctor wheel. Also, GM has since added displacement on demand and cam phasing... more to deal with if retrofitting the motor to 24x. I seem to remember engine management (sensors) voltage was changed from 12VDC to 5VDC as well. So, its possible you also need to change these sensors.
I could be wrong but I don't think its as easy as swapping in a 24x based crank...
Here's an old pic I have to show you what the cam sprockets look like when GM first went to 58X. The left sprocket is an early LS2 - 24x reluctor based motor. The right sprocket is an early LS7 - 58x reluctor based motor. The patterning on the front of the sprocket is what the cam sensor picks up. As you can see the 2 sprockets are different...

I would say you should be able accomplish it by using a 24-tooth reluctor wheel crank and the camshaft gear and sensor for a 2005 LS2, which is a Gen. IV that still had the 24X set-up from the factory. I can’t recall all the vehicles that used this configuration, but the parts are easily available. I would say use whichever style system you had or intended to run, but beings you don’t have anything but the engine itself, you should be able to go either way easy enough.
