Default 408 stroker?

I have a radix on my 5.3l engine that just started to make a wrist pin sound. I would like to upgrade to a 408 rather than rebuild my engine. I've noticed a lot of people building their own. I was looking for suggestions on where to buy a quality long or short block to put in my truck with the radix.

1st off the MP112 radix is a little small to supply the 408 efficiently. Putting a 2.75 pulley(the smallest) on it would be a must and then you are out of it's efficiency range and IAT's skyrocket. Also, achieving more than 5psi would be almost impossible. Upgrading to a MP122H would be best.

Are you looking for somewhere to get a 6.0 to build or a 408 already built?

Ask Thunder550 I Think He Is Doing That Now And He Sold The S/c And Is Later Putting A Turbo On Cause The S/c Would Not Be Able To Keep Up

I was hopeing to find a 408 already built by a builder to purchase. Since I already have the Radix, I think I would like to keep it. Should I build a stronger 5.3 under the circumstances? Where is a good shop to buy those parts? Texas speed didn't show much for a 5.3 that I saw.

What is your budget? What are your power expectations? Will this be a daily driver... maximium allowable downtime? What are your expectations on longevity and reliability? More power equals drive train upgrades. Have you done that already or do you have the budget for that too?

If you have deep pockets surely you can do a 408... and perhaps upgrade to the MP122HH

If money is a problem you can pick up practicly brand new COMPLETE 5.3L motors on eBay from reputable dealers for $1800 or less... have you and a few buddies install it over a weekend.

... really gets down to my 5 questions...

Bill

My pockets aren't that deep and I think I would like to be in the neighbor hood of 500rwhp while being a daily driver.

For a little more $$ I have seen complete LQ4's for about $2400. That would be a nice upgrade and the bigger Cubes will net you more HP.

Slap that Radix on an lq9. Good power and great for DD.
