Default 400hp LQ4

You have a great forum here and I have been trying to gain as much info without asking questions, but I am very new to the LS motors and need some advice.
I have a stock 2004 LQ4 that I am sticking in a 1967 SWB, from the info I can gather here the engine is producing around 325hp at the crank now at stock.
Now I know that the redone emissions and a tune will account for some additional hp, but will a cam (T224 perhaps) be enough to get me to 400hp?
Or will I need some head work or additional work to get there.

again great site and thanks any help you can give

A tune and 224 cammed LQ4 will get you 400 at the crank pretty easily but if you are wanting that at the wheels, its going to take some headwork to get you there, or a bigger cam.

I always like to ask why people pick the horsepower number that they did. Why 400? Did you get a ride in a '67 SWB that had 400 HP? Or is it just a number that sounds good? My point is, that it seems to me that a better question would be, "How much power will x amount of money get?".

Because when put that way most people would never start modding in the first place. Because its always too little for too much.

I agree, good tune and 224ish cam will get you there no problem
