AMEN . Flat tops Longer rods. In my opinion the 4.8 spools up a little quicker than the 5.3 but 6.0 beats them both !!!! These 4.8 are interesting engines, I read about them both in HOT ROD mag and discovered that they may be basically same size the 4.8 just seems to be a great engine for many mods without blowing your budget!!! Good thing is that just about any cam you put in them works great and i've seen a few 4.8's that are dragstrip killers.. Espically ones with Turbos and superchargers..

I'll tell you why... profits. It's just there to give you a reason to step up to the 5.3 for a little more money. I mean does anyone here think that the 4.8 gets significantly better mileage than a 5.3 in these trucks?

yeah, I understand that much. Just can't stand marketing gimics. Ex. an extended cab cost around $4k more but is there 4k more worth of material and labor envolved? Maybe $200 more.

The only reason that I bought a 4.8 is , because I wnated a manual trans.. and a standard cab.
