I'll back him up on it. The 4.8 use a shorter stroke crank and longer rod to make up the difference. They also use a flattop piston to make up the compression difference, but have the same pin location as the dished 5.3 pistons.

This is the CORRECTED version of the chart you where probable referring to. It was INCORRECT on the rod length of the 5.3.

that was the chart i had seen in the past..... i see the correction.

Shouldn't the rod to stroke ratio be corrected too then?

Yep I'll fix that too

Edit: Ok, should be all fixed up and accurate to the best of my knowledge, lol.

the chart looks good to me.
now if you can lay your hands on a set of LS6 heads,
to go with iron block 5.7 you will love your lumpy cam even more.

Putting an LS6 intake on a stock truck motor can get expensive, besides buying the intake. Are you sure that's what you're looking for. Your truck intake will work great.

Just called the machine shop and he said $180 to punch it out. Yes I want to run a ls6 intake on it for sure and I will probably run it backwards too. I found a 5.3 crank for a $100 bucks and do I need to get stock LS1 pictons and rods and run arp bolts in everything? And you guys would get some 243 heads? What would be a good cam for this setup, I wan't a big lope since this is no daily driver and what stall will I need with the cam?
Thanks guys

You can run the intake backwards on these motors. Turn the intake 180 degrees and bolt it right up.
