Default 4.8 knowledge

Hello. New to the site. I have a 2000 chevy Silverado with the 4.8l v8 I love it!!! But(Im sure everyone will agree) I need more power. I know the usual exhaust intake and chip but I want more. I heard threw a few bros at work that a mild cam is in order. If this is so what kind, where do I get one, do I need to upgrade the valve train? Do I need anything else. im a guy wanting a little more outta his truck. Any help is appreciated.

Scrape the chip for a custom tune from one of the sponsors.

As far as cam you'll definitely want to upgrade the valve springs and push rods. Being as your at 150k on the clock I would probably do an ls2 timing chain as well since you'll be in there. Lastly being such a high mileage engine, I would consider a lifter upgrade as well.

Chips.

No "chips" to replace on your truck. You can get a programmer or a tune. As recommended, you will see great gains with a tune.

You can put tons of mods on these trucks, how much do you want to spend?

Depending on budget, look at a cam as mentioned, torque converter, gears, long tube headers, a tune. Any, or all, of those mods will really wake your truck up.

You did start a new thread.

HSFD0671 asked their own random question in your thread, therefore they were asked to make their own thread pertaining to their question.
