Well I'm finally getting my stall put in, so I called tsp and talked to someone about a pretty even cam with a somewhat rough idle. They suggested a 212/218 558/565 110lsa. Would this be good with my setup and does it fit what I'm looking for?

Also is there a how to thread, I've searched but couldn't find one. I would like to do myself for the experience. On a scale.1 -10 how hard is it, ( for someone that has never did it before ).

 

its about a 7-8. make sure you get the lifters all the way up into the cups. and when you replace the springs get some 5/16 rope, feed it through the spark plug hole and tune the crank to where the piston it at TDC. That will keep the valves from falling into the cylinder.

 

10 for someone who doesn't have a clue.. buy some food & beer for the cam swap party.

 

Ye that's what I was afraid of, I would love to buy the beer for help but there's no one who does it around other than the local shop. That I know of at least.

 

Where in louisiana are you located? I find swapping out valve springs to be the hardest IMO

I'd never opened a motor before doing my cam/head swap. I did it over a couple days in my cousin's shop. I didn't have to change springs though, the heads came assembled with LS6 springs and my cam is mild enough I didn't have to worry about it. It's not extremely difficult, but if you're inexperienced, being patient and taking your time is key. I also watched a bunch of youtube videos. A member here swapped his cam in his '69 C-10 with a 5.3 on it, I found that video the most helpful and detailed.
