Default 243 Heads???

I plan on a TR224-112 cam going in my LQ9 before winter. I can get a set of 241 heads fairly easy, possibly even 243's. And since I'm gonna have to change valve springs anyways, I figure I might as well swap heads while I'm at it to bump up compression. How will stock 241 or 243 heads affect the hp and tq of my lq9? Will it be worth the trouble? Where in the powerband will the heads help out?

Thanks!

IMHO, for the money, on engines with 4.00" & larger bores, L92's are pretty hard to beat. They flow great right out of the box. Have a good valve job put in them & you're set. Also, I would have a custom cam ground specifically for the L92's & the rest of your setup. Just my $.02.

If your on a budget for compression (like I was, L92s are NOT cheap.) Do the 243s if you can get em, they flow a little better than the 241s and I believe compression is about the same between the two. Im running 241s and I believe I went from stock LQ4 comp to something like 9.8 or so. No milling on stock height gaskets. Im going to mill them about .030 to get my desired 10.5:1. If you can mill them and you will be good to go

I'm definately on a budget! Doing my own install and tuning, I plan to spend less than $1000. I can get the cam kit for $590, and I found some 241 heads on ebay for $140, but I'd like to find some 243's.
