I think a 232/234 would make killer Top end and would sound Wicked
Which ever cam you go with Im sure you will be happy. Alot of LS1 guys run over 240 dur. on there 5.7. I run a 238/240 in my DD GTO.

You might also consider a car style intake manifold because the truck intake doesn't lend itself to upper rpm power. A big cam like a 230º+ will only make the power band narrower and only slightly if at all higher.
Imagine a Nascar type restrictor plate intake and that's what the standard truck manifold is like for modded engines. It pinches off the airflow needed to generate upper rpm horsepower. A cam with duration in the low to mid 230º's will see a lot of low end rpm torque taken away and instead of that power shifted to a higher rpm band, the airflow needed to sustain that upper rpm surge is pinched or choked off by the truck intake manifold effictively narrowing the powerband.

Check this out! https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...light=cam+clip

It would be a good idea to upgrade to a LS2 intake or if you could afford it a FAST.

i think iam going with the 232/234 .595/.598 112lsa I just would like to do something different and go big with the cam. I will do the ls6 intake when i can afford it but i know the FAST intake new is like $600 or $700 and i just cannot do the heads/cam and intake all at once just dont have the funds right now. Has anyone ever put this cam in a 5.3?

i hope this truck is not a dd, or you are not too picky about driveability. most people are VERY happy with a 224/224 in a 5.3. IMO i would not go any bigger than that. there is a member on here, i forgot his name, but he put a 226/226 in his 4.8 and he wasnt happy with it. too much cam for a 5.3

i ran this cam in my truck as a sumer DD. wasnt bad but i had to run 3800 stall, i had 410s but it would of liked more gear

and youll need compression!!!! a stock 9.5 cr 5.3 wont do crap for thsi cam...youll get spanked by 5.3s with smaller cams
