Default 228 / 232 .600 112lsa in a 5.3?

Recently ordered a 228/232 .600 112lsa cam for my 5.3 with the understanding it is a aggressive cam for my ccsb with a built 4l70e with a 2800 stall. Also ordered stage 2.5 heads from tsp along with pretty much every other supporting internal short of the rotating assembly. Since reading a little more in depth I’m curious of opinions on this setup and what I should expect. Thanks in advance.

Maybe a little big in a 5.3?

Don't forget about fuel too, like injectors if you haven't thought about it yet.

Definitely going to want more than a 2800 stall. What gears do you have?

That’s what I’m starting to see but also some say it works well. I haven’t looked much into fueling but I know it’ll need to happen at some point.

running 3.73s with a truetrac
its a cheaper stall. I know I’ll end up with a circle d probably in the 3200 to 3600 range?
Kinda just want to see what it’ll do on the dyno at this point.

For sure the stock injectors won't support the power that cam/heads combo can make, they are just too small.

It's too big for a 5.3. It'll pull great above 4k but below that it'll be lackluster.

You're going to need a bigger stall, at least a 3400.

Big cams and heavy trucks don't mix well.

Its pretty damn big, and way too big for that converter. You'll be happier with something smaller. It will be a dog down low which really puts a damper on the fun factor.

Have a friend with a crew cab 5.3 ported 243s and 4.10 gears. He had the TB converter and I talked him into a 3600 stall, and it does ok. Look into the 8.1L injectors or even the marine version ones. 255lph walboro pump will be fine

You'll wish you had done a smaller cam, a bigger converter, or both when it's done..
