to swap cam only
u will need the 3 bolts sprocket and disable the dod with tune

to cancel the whole Dod setup u will need
- Ls2 - Ls7 valley cover
- Ls7 Lifters X16 and lifters tray X4
- the usual parts as gaskets and seals

i think this parts will cost around 400$

i didnt cancel the system yet and if u keep it with cam u might have valve train sound like a diesel
my advice is to cancel it at once since u doing the swap
with all the parts on my car it still give me 400+ miles for the tank

Patrick G. spec'd me a specific camshaft for my daily driver 2007 Avalanche 5.3 with a single bolt camshaft. Comp Cams grinds the camshafts and Thunder Racing does all the ordering, mailing etc. Both Patrick G. and Thunder Racing are good people to deal with. By using the camshaft, the DoD does not need to be disabled. The factory lifters, timing chain, oiling and DoD ECM settings are used.

After I return from a business trip the middle of June the camshaft will be installed. Follow up with me the end of June and I can let you know how it turned out. I requested a camshaft that would give me an extra 30 hp/tq under 3500 rpm for towing with a factory idle and no worse gas mileage.

Edit:
Here's the dyno chart for the 208/216 .554”/.561” 114LSA +4 camshaft.
The key to the dyno chart lines.
Stock Pull - Blue Line
After Camshaft - Black Line
After Camshaft & Tune - Red Line
The missing segments in the lines is due to the extra thick plug wire insulation.

It is worth noting that the camshaft missed the mark of "extra 30 hp/tq under 3500 rpm" on its own. It took tuning to make it somewhat close. And . . . I'm still working on cold temperature starting issues. It seems these camshaft guru's only know how to make extra power on the upper RPM end, and just about anyone can do that! Tow vehicles need omph on the low end.

Gregory, thanx for your info. Keep us updated, I will be watching this thread to get the updates.. Do you have any specs on the cam. Will you be doing a dyno run before and after. Are you going to do any tuning to go with the cam swap.

Yes, I will be getting a before and after dyno sheet for comparison purposes. I'll make a mental note to post both charts.

I'm a little reluctant to post the specs. of the camshaft as this is how Patrick G. makes his money. But I will say that the split duration is small (not over 220) and the lift is over .550" @ .050" with 1.7 rocker arms. The overlap is conservative at 37 degrees to give a smooth idle.

I don't believe that Patrick G actually sells cams, but he will spec out a cam for you for a fee, then you get the cam custom ground by Comp Cams

I wouldn't go too far over .550 lift with those DOD lifters.
