Default Tuning

I'm looking at purchasing a 2014 ECSB 4wd 6.2L truck (among other options) since someone decided I wasn't taking good enough care of my 01. I test drove a truck and the thing that was instant in my mind, was how it felt sluggish in normal driving. I had the same thing with my friends 2009 ECSB 5.3L. I don't know if it comes down to the extra 500 lbs over my old truck, or the drive by wire. I suspect it is the drive by wire, just feels like their is a delay. I don't get the same input when I drove a 14' SS (test drove the same day).
Is there a handheld tuner that ca get rid of this and still maintain the factory warranty?

I would normally have it Dyno tuned, but I want to warranty to stay.

Any tuning other than OEM calibrations done on these trucks will void the powertrain warranty. No tuner handheld or custom software available will be able to not void warranty. They want to make sure to keep guys like us in check.

Yes a custom tune is what it needs to wake it up the question is do you want a warranty or do you wanna make it run.

Sorry to read about SOB's that got your 01 was it ever found as of yet?
I say I'd blast anyone trying to steal one of mine but the legal hassle associated with blasting a rat not worth it IMHO if cars insured as sad as it is to say that they step through my front door though of my home and its game on.

I had my 08 in the dealership many times and never had any issues with it being tuned... I returned it to the stock tune the first time because I thought they might raise hell but not a word so after that I just left the tune in it.

It's all according to how good you know your guys at the dealership. We have always had ours tuned and no problems here. We're good friends with the salesman and several others in there and they have never even asked a question...

Noah and 8U: From what others have said, it might only be an issue if you take it in to the dealer with a rod sticking out the side of the block and wanted it fixed under warranty. Don't they have some requirement to document your tune to be able to do that? Like you said though, if you have a good enough relationship with them they might still be able to "wink, wink" fake it for you. That'd be a big favor though.

Tune and normal warranty work no problem they are nt going to look for it as there is no reason to. Now if it has a trans engine tcase or diff failure thats where gm requires verification of full untampered oem tune before warranty repair will be authorized. If it hoes in knocking or rattling lifters or a ported block she better have stock tune or you are sol

Well, even something small won't keep them from checking your computer. I had mine in for some warranty work on the DIC switch a while ago, and the technician noted on the work order that he had "SCANNED FOR CODES. CHECKED FOR PROGRAMMING."

Made me glad I had put the stock tune back in for the visit, just in case. I like this dealer, but they seem to do things very much by the book - GM's book, not the friendly local dealer buddy book.
