It’s a completely different truck now. I’ve got it holding certain gears longer and some shifting softer. This trans is WAY easier to tune then a 6l80 (at least in this low HP application)

Very cool. So what's the process on these? Just send off the TCM to be unlocked so it can be tuned? Sorry for the noob like questions. Where is the TCM and how difficult is it to get out?

Extremely easy to get to. Sits on the driver side firewall and takes about 30 seconds to unsnap.
Fill out th form on HPT then send it in. It’s $200 for the unlock service but then it’s another $200 for credits just for that TCM

So is everybody starting to like the 8 speed now.

I know in the beginning everybody was saying you should find used 2014 a DI 6.2 with the 6 speed. Now that tuning is any option do you think an 8 speed will out perform a 6L80e in a performance daily driver scenario??

I’ve had a couple 6 spds and the only one I’ve liked so far is the one in my wife’s 2015 SS sedan. I like this 8 spd much better

Didn't work for me! LOL! The tuner is going to try a couple different strategies. He swears it has worked 8 times and failed 2 times with all the 2017's he's worked with.
