Towing with a 5.3

This trailer doesn’t have them. Truthfully the truck rode and drove great especially once I flipped the ball. It could really use some better gears. 3.42’s with 33’s just aren’t a good mix for towing. I left it locked in 4th just to keep it from hunting between 4th and 5th. RPM’s were about 3000rpm and it seemed to have plenty of power for most hills but still had to hit 3rd from time to time. I’m already working on talking the wife into a bigger truck. She took to this glamping thing quick.

Loaded up the 93 octane tune this morning and that seemed to solved my power issues. Had trouble keeping it under 80. Set the cruise at 70 and left it in 5th and she pulled like a dream.
Until I looked down at the voltmeter and it was showing 10v so looks like I get to do an alternator replacement.

Do what? I rarely ever look down at that gauge. I checked it after we stopped for a while and it’s showing 14v again so I’ll keep an eye out. Just can’t have it leave mama stranded. I don’t want that phone call.
