Ive thought the same thing for a few months. About it being in vacuum and pulling into the crank case. When i installed my catch can i was really surprised at how much vac it pulled.

same here. It's fun, addicting, and sometime expensive.
I separate K&N crank case vent filters on my clean side (air in) hoses. I have the RX catch can and the clean side separator. I did run the clean side separate to the custom air intake tube in addition to the vent filters on the original air in lines.
