Default on the fence rcsb or ccsb

The title pretty much sums it up. I have finally gotten the new truck itch, but I am too indecisive on what to go after. So here is where i'm at. I use to have a 04 sierra rcsb years ago and really enjoyed. It was a nice truck somewhat quick and simple. After seeing some of the 14's and what some members are doing they really look awesome. Now on the other and there's the crew cab i had an 06 Silverado and sold it to dad a few years ago. The extra space is nice, but I dont know if i want all that truck. My only major appeal for the crew cab is I really want a 6.2 and of course like most guys if I could get that in a rcsb it would be no contest. So all i'm asking is a "what would you do" question and looking for other view points. pros and cons kinda thing.

Thanks

I'm not sure on exact prices, or what you want to spend, but the crew cab will run around $4k-8k more than a regular cab. For that price, you could get the rcsb. Then go find a 6.2 motor/tranny takeout somewhere, plug it in your new truck and go play. If you looked hard enough you might find an extended cab franken-truck "brand new on the lot" with a 6.2 in it. I've heard this time of year gm puts out some odd-ball packages....then again, thats just what I've heard. I've seen a few LTZ packages in extended cab models with the 6.2.

I was thinking the same thing, but not with a new truck myself. I wanted a crew cab, but then got thinking, I don't have a family to cart around, and whatever I got, I was going to try and make fast. so, I sold my ECSB and bought the RCSB I have in my build thread. So, my vote? RCSB and turbo it. LOL. but that's just me.

When we set out to buy our truck, we weren't necessarily looking for one or the other - just the best all around deal. We ended up with a crew cab, and now that I have one I don't think I could go back to RCSB unless it was something I was strictly using as a race-type truck.

We don't have a family yet but it's just been so nice to have the extra room when going to concerts with friends or to watch race events/etc...everyone's a lot more comfortable. My wife and I have taken it on several road trips and with two dogs in the back and all of our luggage, it still doesn't feel cramped. We also take it "off road" to the beach to go camping once a year, again the added interior space is nice for the freak rain storms that pop up. Id' rather have the extra space and not need it vs. the alternative.

Yes, that is true. What I miss about my ECSB was when it's time to go get groceries, or take more than one passenger, as my RCSB has a center consule out of an ECSB LOL. RCSB is a fairly impractical vehicle. Pretty rad two seater though haha. Like you're saying Alvin, for me this thing is going to be pretty much strictly racing. i drive it to work everyday, but it has a purpose. I wanna go fast! Crew cabs are great all around trucks for sure.

I had a 2008 CC 5.3 and loved it... when the '14s came out I went and drove a CC and they are NICE... however I was tired of the extra room... 85% of the time it just ended up filled with junk. So I bought a rcsb! now, that said, I've done a lot of traveling with our race team this year and there've been a few times I wished I had the back seat, but most of the time its not a big deal.

I love the rcsb, it's got a ton of power, handles great and is easy to get in and out anywhere.

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess I'm gonna leave it be for a few days and see which way I go. I like both view points. I really like the turbo idea. Holy crap I'm pretty sure that would put the wife over the top with me and my bad spending habits. I'm already a performance boat addict. Well I guess we will see if join the 2014 club.

Thanks

Crew or ext cab. The 6.2 is worth it. I'm on my third 6.2 and i always had rcsb trucks in the past. The new reg cab is the smallest cab they have made since 87 in my opinion. Felt very tight. I found my new 14 ecsb ltz 6.2 on the lot a couple weeks ago and i'm loving it.
