deleting 3rd cat worth anything 6.2L
#1
just put a Magnaflow 12909. Id does fit deleting the flapper and no piping required. left the res so no drone but its very quiet. just about the same as stock. Not sure it its louder at all just different sound. I wounder if deleting the 3rd cat will be of any benefit. I read in a post from 2014 that it wasnt. If anyone has deleted it what did they do. I think headers is best solution but $$$$$$$$

I cut mine off right before the resonator but left enough pipe to get a band clamp on if I need to pass inspection and have to put it back on. (I've had one place fail me because I didn't have a tail pipe that exited the vehicle or something like that"
My plan is to run my 12909 with headers no cat and no res. Then If that's to loud put the res back on since I saved it.
But cutting it off with the way your truck is now will make it louder with no drone. That is the exact way I'm running it on my truck right now. It's loud enough to finally here the truck crank from inside the house but not so loud to **** off neighbors. I still want it louder but with headers it will be perfect I think. At least it was on my older 6.2

Zero and I mean Zero with the stock exhaust manifolds and stock cats.
On the last truck I I had Zero with headers and catless Y pipe
Before I put the 12909 on the last truck I ran it with the stock muffler because the older 6.2 stock muffler wasn't that restrictive. I had slight drone sitting still in traffic with the stock muffler and Zero once I put the 12909 on.
Chop that bi%@$ off.

I've been debating removing 3rd cat for too long to remember. It seems the large diameter (surface area) would not provide much if any restriction in my case (stock with catback) however I'm thinking may "slightly" increase pitch of exhaust note which is really all I'd hope for.
