Anyone done a 6.2 swap from a 5.3?

With it open nothing changes, supposedly it's there to help keep it from sounding like a 4 cylinder when it goes into 4 cylinder mode. But I never could hear the exhaust anyway.
I first wedged mine open, and noticed no change in sound. But I also had 4 cyl mode deactivated when I had it tuned. But wouldn't matter, couldn't hear it anyway.
When I got the flapper cut out I also had a magnaflow muffler put in place of the stock muffler, I still can barely hear the exhaust. It's a super quiet really deep note that's nice. My point is the exhaust would have to be FARRRR louder for there to be any drone, and there's no way it's loud enough with the stock mufflers and just the flapper removed.

It's crazy how fast a truck can be with just a stock 6.2, I'm really hoping to get one in the next year or so. Unless things change and get some sort of other toy.

I called about a 6.2 earlier and the guy said it comes with the harness and computer. Told him I was interested in just the engine, he said he thinks the harness is different for the 6.2
Does anyone know if I need the 6.2 harness or if the 5.3 is plug and play on the 6.2?

You might find the smart way is to retail yours for as much as you can ,then shop hard for a nice used 015 6.2 8sp

I really don’t understand how the 6.2 is so much faster, the hp is not THAT far apart.

And I got some really good deals on some of the things I did that probably wont happen again. For example I got 4 new goodyears from Discount tire with all road hazard warranties and all for only $520 (20") and sold my old tires for $100. I got the brake pads free brand new from GM, and the list goes on.
On top of all that, used cars are always a gamble and I know mine is solid and needs nothing. LOL if it weren't for all that I would sell it and look for a 6.2.
My main goal when getting a new truck was to get a 6.2 but the lowest cost 6.2 truck I could find in the country compared to this one was more than 10k higher than this truck. I don't think I could sell mine for withing 2k of a 6.2 and have all the brand new stuff on it mine has.

Quote: I'm with you, for the small difference in hp/tq the performance difference is huge. If and when I do the 6.2 swap, i'd love to run a 5.3 truck with a blower. I have a feeling it'll be pretty close. And after 3-4 pulls the blower truck will probably lose due to heat buildup.
If I dont do anything to my truck by then that can be arranged. Would be fun! Any hey, we even have the same tuner! However I probably wouldn't do more than 2-3 pulls at most...I've never beat on it even before the blower. Don't believe in abusing my work truck, its my money maker
