Anyone done a 6.2 swap from a 5.3?

I called about a 6.2 earlier and the guy said it comes with the harness and computer. Told him I was interested in just the engine, he said he thinks the harness is different for the 6.2

Does anyone know if I need the 6.2 harness or if the 5.3 is plug and play on the 6.2?

I would be surprised if it wouldn’t easily be made to work. Some of the sensors may be in different locations. What did they want for a 6.2?

I'd say get it all and then sell what you don't use. I'm curious what you find out because I'm looking at going this route in mine.

swap

I did the 5.3 to a 6.2 in my 2010 Colorado
it was a PNP, used the stock wire harness
and PCM, just retuned it. don't know if
this helps you.

I hope you do this. My thoughts are after reselling your 5.3 you may not be out all that much and man what an upgrade!!!!!

I was assuming it was plug and play like the previous gen motors, but who knows. If not I have everything I need to be able to easily get it all going. Found some L86's for 3500 with harness and computer.

On ebay they're out of their minds, they want like 7-9k

May have to and if so no biggie, was wanting to gather info first if possible

Not really since it's a completely different generation motor, but I was thinking it may be the same as previous gens and all plug right in.

That's exactly the thing. Trucks need low end torque, and displacement or a PD blower is the way to get it. I see people spending 6k or so on blowers and making a little over 100 more to the tires. I'd be pretty close to that with just the motor swap and after the smoke clears probably be into it $1500-2000. I know you have a blower and I'd love to go that route but I just don't have the extra coin to spend on the truck. I could likely swing 2k without much issue, but 6k is a much harder number to get past the wife. And to be honest, if I were gonna try to swing 6, i'd just go for 8 and do the motor and blower.

What really set the need for a 6.2 in stone was getting waxed hard by a buddy in his Yukon Denali 6.2 awd. And there's a couple of vids on youtube of a CC 6.2 with intake and tune pulling HARDDD on a single cab with intake tune and headers. Real hard. Just made me think there's no point even diving into the 5.3 if the 6.2 with less mods and more weight can do that with ease.

Not when you expect it.

6.2 is literally the best all around truck engine ever made.

acceleration times are somehow right on par with the srt10
