I've pulled this boat with a 03 5.3 silverado, 2008 duramax full bolt ons and built trans with 230 tune (didn't tow on the big tune),2008 6.2 denali and 2014 sierra 6.2 Direct injection,

The 03 sucked so I bought the 2008 duramax. It was so expensive to fix or to upgrade I sold it because it was breaking the bank.

2008 denali header and tune pulled the boat really good but still though the duramax was better but would have kept pulling the boat with it but it was totaled. When pulling with it I wished it was geared or supercharged just so it didn't down shift as much. My only complaint on that truck.

2014 made my think I'll never want to buy a diesel because it pulls so good. It sits right around 1900 rpms and just pulls. If it does down shift, unlike the old truck which dropped two gears shifted to 3000 rpms or more. This one shifts from 1900 to 2300 rpms and pulls any hill without dropping speed but it only does that on the biggest of hills.

absolutely love my 2018 ltz z71 redline 6.2 cc 4x4. yes it was expensive but its got all the bells and whistles. My mileage is crazy high for never really on the thruway.

I'm pretty sure all that was solved with the L5P but I don't keep up with it as much as I used too.

but

Tuning the new L5P is as much as a built transmission used to cost. I believe it cost some where close to 4,000 to have the L5P tuned.

I clearly remember towing a boat with my fj60 landcruiser up an incline. I was going maybe 30-40mph on the highway because I didn't have the power. All of a sudden a vortec 5.7 suburban passes me at like 60mph while he's also towing a boat. I just remember thinking "man all that power sure must be nice, lucky guy"

Just funny how now the next gen truck is the now the old weakling

What I would give to be able to go back in time with my L86 and fly by that surburban going up an incline

Do those trucks have mufflers or that particulate filter thing?
I don't think you can remove that unless you tune all that stuff out. But being a fellow Californian I know the crapy exhaust laws...
Look into something like this. Should give you a little more sound and help spool up a little faster too while getting the exhaust temps even lower.
