So if you get a used TCM from a parts truck or whatever, do you have to do a security relearn when installing it in your truck, or does a dealer have to actually program it to work in your truck?

dont know but my tcm is in the mail going to Atomic. He actually asked me a similar question. We'll see what he says.

Found the problem that the 8spd folks are experiencing. Clutch compensators are fed by lubrication oil rather than the dedicated and regulated feed design of the 6L80. Source; https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/che...o-8-speed.html

That article says it's a design feature, not a cause of the issue.

And if it were a cause of the issue, tuning wouldn't be the cure. And so far tuning seems to be the cure.

Not that the article mentions the problem but I saw this as the culprit as even the stealerships don't know causes or fixes...…………..
