8 Speed trans

Afternoon all. I have a question about the 8 speed transmissions. I know they have been having issues and would like to find out if GM has sorted out this trans. I am going to be in the market for a newer truck later this year and would like to know they have it squared away. Thanks in advance.

No, there are still issues.

Too bad, when it worked was a really good box.............

That is too bad. I'd like to get a newer Denali, but they only have the 8 speeds

Wait until they get the 10 speed... it actually seems to be totally fine in the F150's. That said just the 6L80E and 6R80 GM's programmers will find a way to make a complete and utter mess of it.

Don't even waste your energy with that 8 speed garbage.

Maybe. Course i could find an SLT Z71 with the 6 speed and get it supercharged. Just not sold on the new programming of the engines. Not trying to start debates, arguments or anything of that sort, but I've already heard that tuners won't be able to tune them and if they do the epa gonna start fining people that do. Not sure how they'll do it though.

Are you talking about the 2019 GM trucks not being able to tune them or the current 2018s? HP Tuners already is able to tune the 10 speed cars. I really don't see them regulating the gas vehicles to lock out tuning like the Diesels to meet EPA standards.

Talking about the 19s. With the new variable cylinder shut down inn the engines.

Yeah that will be interesting if they will make it like the current AFM that you can just disable via a tuner or your stuck with it. With the look of the 2019 trucks I will probably have my 2017 for quite a while and if I do have to replace my current truck look at a used 2018 6.2

Yeah then you can add afm on every cylinder so it can eat itself 4 times more quickly than now lol. Junk.
