2014 5.3 FI questions
#1
Hey guys... Been forever since I've been on this site. Haven't even thought about doin any performance stuff in years. Contemplating getting a new 14 RCSB with a 5.3 and putting a whipple on it. My question is has anybody seen what these new DI motors have done with superchargers??? I ask because I know in the older non DI motors different fuel injectors and a fuel pump were recommended/necessary for more fuel. With these new DI motors I'm not sure if higher rated injectors and a pump are necessary or even available. Also what other mods would you guys suggest??? Cam, gears, etc???
Any of these recommendations for a NNBS would be appreciated as well. Not sure if I'm going to end up with a new 14 or a used NNBS.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Letting it breathe through a set of long tubes should yield around 20 hp per lb of boost...
The new 5.3 injectors are huge, so pump, or something about fuel pump lobe on cam is limiting, but cams are being researched/tested as we speak.

So basically the only thing that may limit the fuel delivery would be the fuel pump or the cam???

"You will not get the gains you think you would by adding long tubes. If the motor was built and you were going to run high HP, then you would look into doing the LT's. I would just add a cat back for sound only. Gains will not be that much."
I figure he ought to know. My guess is that the current LS motors come with pretty decent exhaust manifolds compared to the crap that used to come on American motors. So you need to be really turning high rpm with a lot of other trick parts before you see super big gains from LTs. Personally, I love headers for the sound alone and I wish I could afford some right now.
