Default Warranty question

Wasnt concerened with my warranty, till I had a scare thinking I was loosing my tranny with less than 1000 miles. Scared the crap out of myself. Put HPTuners up for a while, but what (if any) tune can I put on my 08 and keep the warranty?

You can put any tune and keep the warranty as long as they dont detect it. Might just want to leave it stock and drive the hell out of it.

Not sure how much truth there is to it, but was told the ECM/TCM has a way of detecting and logging changes made to it??? Paid for HpTuners but like I said I had an unrelated scare while tuning, so I was thinking bout an off the shelf tuner, or at least to make sure changes cannot be detected

You should always back up your stock tune. So if anything happens, just load it back in before you take it in for warranty work. If you don't have it anymore see if there is a repository on HPT forum. I know EFI live has a 3rd party server that has stock tunes on it.

i was under the impression the newer PCMs have a blackbox type of recorder to them. i recall a z06 being voided on his warrenty cause they found out the tune was touched. the owner had ran the car lean due to a tuner. put car back to stock but the dealer scanned the car and knew it had been touched.

Blowing the motor waives a little more flags than blowing a trans.

There is no way of telling. The calibration number will not match with any available from GM if they look for it. The only way is if they are trying to program the ecm or tcm otherwise no way of telling.

Not calling BS, just want to know 100%. Anyone that knows me knows there is a good possibility that one day in the next 2 years this truck WILL wind up on a trailer going in for a blown tranny, and/or engine. I just want to make sure the "black box" isnt for real before I tune. I tune AGRESSIVE!!!! at least on my stuff, I take it easier on others!
