I have a 2007 base model truck, my rear view mirror has the onstar garbage...

I'd like to have a rear view with a compass and temp and such... What years can interchange? I'd mainly like to have one without the onstar stuff, but really wanting a compass...

I found one for the 2007 and up trucks, for $200... seems steep. Would an older unit not work?

 

Did some more research since I started the thread. Seems like the best route is going aftermarket... Doing an OEM setup would be a major pita...

 

New question since you squashed the thread. What if I wanted to have the back up camera one? Could I just take the camera and wiring and rearview mirror and make it work?

 

I would assume it would be somewhat plug and play... I know alot of other accessories are. I'm not sure if that was a factory option for the Silverados or not, I'm new to this type of vehicle so I'm still taking in information daily...

 

Yeah, I almost bought an LTZ that had it in there (it was awesome). Either way I hope it is because that would be awesome. Anybody else have input?
