Default for those with CAI

I am running an S&B cai, and I keep getting the lean bank codes. I have tightened my hose clamps almost to the point of striping them. I have even pulled out the whole intake and reinstalled just to see if that helped. I have cleaned the maf. I dont know if it is just too much air going through it or what.

I do not know the severity of the code but still want to fix it without having Nelson's turn the code off.

Last time I had truck scanned, they used the bigger scanner and checked a lot of different stuff. Said 02's were good.

maybe it is just overly oiled filter that needs a good cleaning with less oil. my codes were 171 and 172 if memory serves correctly.

dry the filter and since you cleaned the maf already go for a drive it takes about 4 cycles i think for the code to go away if that was the issue. by cycles i mean turning on and off you truck after a drive..

Okay, that may work. I have some errands to run tomorrow anyways. I wonder if a dry filter is made yet that will that intake. that filter is massive.

You need to reroute the passenger side breather tube back into the new intake tube. I drilled a hole in the cai tube, inserted the proper size rubber grommet, then modified the existing breather tube to reach the intake tube and fit into the grommet. The code went away and never came back after I did this mod. Let me know if you need more help

btw, youre getting this code (which should be P171) because the breather system is a closed circuit on the nnbs trucks, and you cant break the pathway. Easy fix, but a perplexing problem that bugged me for a month or so before I spoke with a GM tech who told what was going wrong

maybe your just running lean and need the MAF recalibrated for the new intake?...Can you monitor fuel trims? A custom "in person" tune could be the solution if your intake is installed properly...
