Default Swap Camaro LS3 into 09 Sierra

Alright, so this is my first post. As the title says I’m looking to swap the LS3 out of my 11 Camaro SS and into my 5.3 09 CC Sierra. And no I’m not crazy I’m not going to just rip out a LS3 from a perfect Camaro. My Camaro was slammed by a red light runner in the right rear of the car. It’s a total loss but I have bought it back from the insurance company. The LS3 and the TR-6060 are still in perfect shape as far as I can tell. I know the LS3 will drop in no problem. I’m looking for some info while I continue to search the web on nnbs swaps. What from the Camaro can I, or should I swap over? ECU, water pump, fuel pump, etc.? What from the Camaro should I not bring over or should change once I do? Since the TR-6060 is a manual transmission I know it won’t swap over without a lot of work. Will the fact that the LS3 was bolted up to a manual transmission make things harder when trying to bolt it to the auto that’s in the truck now? Or is it just bolt and go with a PCM tune? At this stage any kind of input is greatly appreciated. I’m not totally illiterate to cars and engines but this is something more advanced than anything that I have ever done. I just want to have my homework done on this.
I never thought about upgrading my truck until the Camaro was totaled. My plans will be similar to the ones I had for the Camaro. They are to add LT headers and a cam to the LS3 at the time of install along with 4.11 or larger gears and suspension upgrades. Later down the road I’ll get it set up for a supercharger. My hopes now are to one day turn my daily driver Sierra into a 600 hp weekend hot rod truck and go and get a new daily driver. Maybe something gas efficient for once. Lol.

Thanks,

What Id do is sell the LS3 and get a L92. From what I read the LS3 has different intake and accessories that arent desired for the trucks and have to be converted to truck acc anyways. Wiring may be different also. For an L92, It came from a truck and should drop right in.
Probably save you a ton of time, money and headache going that route

This should be a fun project. In to see progress. With some sort of FI your 600HP goal shouldn't be to hard to reach at all.

Sorry to hear about the Camaro

The ls3 will go in just fine just get your self a truck 6l80e flywheel and your good to go. no need to run the camaro accessories as you can just use the ones from your truck. Anyways stock pump is alright if its a flex fuel truck but I would upgrade it to the aermotive 340 pump. only like 180 and easy to put in. As far as the intake goes just get yourself a l92 intake from the trucks which you can find here pretty easy and cheap and just swap over your stuff from your 5.3 intake. bigger injectors would help a little now but better down the road so wouldn't hurt to go ahead and get them. If your on a budget tho just use the injectors from your camaro. They are shorter so you will have to get the FAST adapter that make them taller. I use them on my truck as I run the LS7 style injectors so I know they fit and work perfect. All the sensors are all the same as the l92s only difference between a camaro ls3 and a truck 6.2 are the intakes front acc and the valves. Your valves are actually better then the solid steel l92 valves that are known to drop. another good thing about your ls3 being originally a manual is it doesn't have the vvt that the auto camaros came with. reason I say that is because your 09 5.3 doesn't have the harness to control the vvt so its even that much easier to swap out. truck should run pretty good especially when you start putting on some bolt ons. 600hp isn't an out of reach goal by any means i put 7 lbs through my 6.2 and made more then 600 and trust me at that level these trucks are pretty damn fun lol

Good luck man should have alot of fun with your truck. I know I did when I was a 6.2 especially when I turboed it lol
