Default So im looking into dropping my 2010 GMC CC

So eventally im going to be lowering my truck, its a bit confusing with all the miss-leading information i've been gathering on the most effective way to drop the truck (Shackles hangers, flip kits, C-notching etc...).

I just don't know the best route to take. I really don't want to put a price tag on doing the job right, so what will give me the best ride quality from a 3/5 drop? I would like to stick with 20's so i won't hurt my performance that much from the rediclously heavy rims (Keep the OD of the tires roughly the same as well), but if 22's are the better option to feel up the wheelwell then so be it. I hear all the horror story's about people dropping there trucks and they them riding like ****,stuff rubbing, bottoming out etc...

Suggestions and advice would be greatly aperciated.

I have an 08 ecsb with a 2/5 drop I went with belltech spindles up front and a mcg flip kit with hangars in the back. my truck rode pretty much like stock until I put on my caltracs and rear sway bar.

Rubbing is something you're probably going to have to deal with at full lock only, unless you do something crazy like try to fit a 305 wide 24" tire on the front. I'm only down 2" in the front, but at full lock with the stock 275/55R20 I'd say I'm 3/8 to 1/2" from rubbing.

I won't speak for the rear drop, cause I only went down 3", so I'll let someone else who's gone down 5"+ (there's lots on here that have) answer appropriately.

I will say that at 2/3 the ride is almost identical to stock, for whatever that's worth.

Good luck on whatever direction you go.

Aperciate all of your replys... Preston, you mention about full lock ? Does that have something to do with the torsion bar adjustment or ?

No I only meant at full steering wheel lock, so when you crank the wheel fully whichever way, a taller tire will almost always rub on the plastic inner fender liner. The contact points are the inside front (near the front of the engine) and outside back (near the door). You can trim the plastic to fix some minor rubbing, but trying to stuff a 33" tall tire on a 4" drop will probably be more difficult to fix.

my 08 is @ 4/6 now. DJM control arms with DJM flip kit. The issue now for me right now is that one of the ball joints that came on one of the lower control arms is bad. So im gonna need to replace it before I allign it.

Ride quality is great. I'm using Belltech Street Performance shock in the rear, all stock up front.
You cant travel the suspension like stock since it sits closer to the bump stops. So if you get a big enough bump on the road, you will feel that.
Other than that, smooth as stock for me.

Thanks, yea i was just concerned on rubbing and ride quality. I do know i have to come to terms with it when I lower the truck, just wanted to make sure i was doing it the "Right way" not the Ghetto way.

Ok

a 3 / 5 isn't much on a NNBS , you should be fine as long as it's done right and use the right shocks.

If you are concerned w/ ride quality:

Front:
2" spindles - ground force, belltech, mcgaughys
1-2" struts - belltech

Rear:
Mcgaughys flip kit w/ lift hangers.

Shocks:
New Mcgauhys', theres a few monroe, belltech, and doestech

w/ 20"s you will be fine w/ a 275 tire.

22"s will fill up the fender gap, stick with a 285/45/22 tire size

i had mine at 4/7 w/ 22x10's on 275/45/22, and it only rubbed on drivers side at full lock and at certain angles. if you get a less wide rim you will be fine, like 22x9, plus you'll be at 3" versus 4". you won't need a notch, worst case is helper bags if you tow a lot or put heavy *** payloads in your bed.

here's mine at 4/7 w/ 22's

^ wow man that looks great!
what wheel/tire combo is that.
my 4/6 still has the 305/40R22's and they rub quite a bit. I think im gonna go with 285/40 or 285/35
