buddy of mine mentioned removing blocks from the rear to lower it a little, I was going to throw on some 2" lowering shackles tomorrow, is this something I could do tomorrow also without having to have any extra hardware or anything?

 

Yes...the u-bolts have just enough thread to do this

 

ok, this may be a dumb question, I've never done any leaf spring suspension work... what is the process on this? rear on jack stands, remove bolts and what from there? JB your input would be greatly appreciated here!!

 

i used my own method to get the shackle on and it worked great
idk if you wana use my method,i was just using my head with the tools i had

 

well what was your method Chev?

 

make sure there is no load on the rear end. Put jack stands on the frame of the truck, and a jack under the differential with just a pound or two of pressure supporting it. Unbolt the ubolts. You should see the differential start to drop after a while. Pretty much it, just pull the bolt out and bolt it back up. I obviously skipped a few steps, but it's a pretty damn easy task.

I figured it was about that easy, just don't wanna do anything stupid here... leaf springs make me nervous for some reason... never had a problem working on the suspension on my camaro, but the truck's just looks more intimidating... hah... we'll see how this goes!

 

AWESOME...i looked under there but it didnt look like it had enough threads...new project!

 

Do one side at a time and make sure the saddle is even all around and you tighten the nuts in a cross pattern or one side may run out of threads.
