Default Rear Diff

Hey guys, one thing that is completely foreign to me is rear diffs. I can figure out what the gear ratio is, but the biggest question is what type of unit is it? It is a 2011 rcsb with 4.8l. GMC Sierra sle. It is a one wheeler peeler.

Consider it an open diff then.

The factory G80's are a locking diff, it just about every 5.3 and all 4x4 trucks.

I'd swap it for a tru-trac diff if you are looking to upgrade.

Thanks for input, but is it a 12 bolt or 10 bolt, etc? Sorry for ignorance.

Thanks, George. So will these withstand some power with a true trac? I've been out of the scene so long seems I've lost my searching skills. Looking at around 600 hp

I owned a Tru-Trac in my 2002 Camaro and it was an amazing diff. Counting down the days till I do an install in the Yukon. The G80 has given me zero traction issues in the snow, though.
