I damm sure not moving the starter outta the way without disconnecting batteries to pull TC bolts. Just **** happens deal spike took it out. When you gotta worry about stuff being that damm sensitive in a rugged automotive environment is bs.

I would say you connected the negative cable first and then the Positive cable. This provided an arc which sent a voltage spike through the BCM and whipped it out.
How does a 12 volt battery spike over 12.8 to wipe out a bcm? That really dosent make any sense, the system is designed for 14.6 steady voltage and can go as high as 16 to 17 before there is any detrament to the system. I just cant see how a spike could occur big enough to take it out...

Yep 700$ later the BCM was fried dang it!
