Transmission replacement on 94 1500
#1
My current trans in my 94 1500 4.3 v6 has crapped out on me, and I'm looking to fix or replace. It currently has the 4L60, and after I get her up and moving again I'm looking to swap the engine as well. Most likely to the 5.3, or a 5.7. The current motor has 230k on it but still purrs, and other then my company vehicle which I drive majority of the time its my daily. However my main question is, and with taking into consideration the future motor change for this truck. Should I go with the same model 4L60 or should I go for something more beefy?

I believe the 94 is fairly specific to that application.
It will only interchange with 93-94 models.
Have it rebuilt, or replace it with a compatible model.
An LS engine has a different convertor offset and requires a newer transmission to run with the electronics.

I believe you are correct sir. With very little research I found that in 1996 chevy switched to a newer electronics inside the transmission. I guess I will look into having the one I have rebuilt more then replacing it.
