I have an S&B CAI on my 5.3 . Just wondering if I take the cover off the box will it make a difference at all or just get the filter dirty faster?

 

If you take the cover off it want be a CAI,It will be a HAI :~) as in "Hot Air Intake"!

Because it will draw air from around the motor and exhaust manifold and that will be a Negative Big time! defeating the whole purpose of buying a CAI In the first place!

You need to start thinking with your Dip stick :~) I love that Castrol Commercial....

 

HAI. That's pretty funny. I thought the same thing but I remembered that the K&N CAI have the top open. The only difference is that it has the rubber seal around the top that doesn't seal completely. I took it off anyway just to try it out. There's no noticable difference besides it being louder.
