Default Oil pressure problem

Well its been two weeks that my truck dropped oil pressure. I have been using my friends mustang and ive been waiting for the oil pump. Finally its been here for awhile and im gonna work on my truck today with my friend at his shop. I hoping that its the oil pump and not something else internal. The whole story about my truck is i put a pro charger on the truck it was running strong and no problem with oil pressure. I jumped in my truck to start it and it just started to ding and said no oil pressure shut engine off. So cross your fingers and hope its not something worse.

Probably a dumb question, but did you check the oil pressure sending unit?
Easy way to see if your oil pump is out...change your oil. Put the filter on without putting oil in it. Fill crank case up to the full mark on dipstick. Start truck briefly (5 sec) and shut off. Pull the dipstick. If oil level drops, your oil pump is fine. If it doesn't drop your oil pump is not working.

This is just a suggestion, it is a good indicator if you dont have access to an external oil pressure gauge.

i drilled and tapped a fitting onto the oil cooler bypass block.. and hooked up a manual guage on my truck when i was having issues.. i would trouble shoot more before just changing a pump.. and if you change the pump make sure you get a new O ring...

you could also pull oil filter and cut it open.. look for signs of metal.....

well guys i thought it was the sending unit at first too but i started it and i could hear that the valve train was getting louder and louder so i figuring that its not the sending unit. We already tore the motor apart and found what we think was a loose oil pump and the guy that installed my cam messed with my oil pump. We dont know why but i already got a hi volume hi pressure oil pump so im gonna install the new one to make sure it was the oil pump.

Previous experience tells me that it is likely not the pump.. Could be wrong but usually a high volume pump will just mask the underlying issue by flooding it with oil long enough for it to really come apart..

He said the old one was loose which can't be good. Once that's fixed it should work.

Did your truck have AFM? Aluminum or iron block?

Truck did have AFM, but it was converted when cam was installed... Hopefully it was just the loose oil pump causing the problem..
