Noob questions

I may be converting over from the Dodge side into a 2010 silverado. The truck I'm looking at is a rc/sb 2wd LT with a 5.3 and 6l80. A have a few questions about it though.
Is the 6l80 a decent trans or am I going to kill it quick with frequent trips to the track?
Can I expect to be able to run 12.90's on motor with a cam, converter and full bolt-ons?
Is there a reputable tuner in the MD,PA,DE,NJ area?

That would be a great foundation to build on the new 6l90e's are good they have been holding up to some good power way better then the older 4l60's you should be able to put some good power through it before worring about breaking it. I have the same tranns in my crew cab and I race it alot and the only mod I have done to it is a bigger tranns cooler. These tranns get pretty hot when racing them but a good tranns cooler should take care of it, mine is steady in the 140-150 range. With a good setup you should be able to get close to your goal if not faster the aftermarket for these engines and trucks is amazing and with the right parts you can go as fast as you want. Now as for tuners sorry buddy dont know of any up there im down here in Texas we dont have that problem lol

the good thing about that 6 speed is with 3:42s its first gear is like having 4:10s so my honest opinion 3:42s/3:73s is all youd ever need.
my truck isnt slow, an i held bumper to bumper with a 522hp CCSB and no i do not have Nitrous. Skipperdaddy and i ran (he has an 09 and i have 08) he is S/C 5.3, cammed, LTs, OR-y, 3:42s, stock stall, Truckshop tune. i have a 6.2/60e, milled heads, 228/236 cam, 3200 converter, vette servos, LTs, OR-y, CAI, UD crank pulley, 4:10/Tru-Trac, Truckshop tune.

Located in Delaware. Supposedly there is a company that is real good with corvettes about 20 min from my house. I am going to check them out. The name of the shop is Race Proven Motorsports and they are a vendor on ls1Tech.

Another question.
A 4.8 truck is about $5k cheaper. Is it worth it to get that and then spend the extra money with someone like texas speed to put a better shortblock in it to reach my goal of consistent 12s on motor?
How are the heads on the 4.8?

Just get the WT with V6 and 6 speed, then order an LS3; cheapest way to 12s. Although it'll still look like a WT.
Heads on the 4.8 are the 243/799 casting number, same heads as on 5.3s, LS2s and the LS6 (although without the lightweight LS6 valves). They're the best flowing cathedral port heads from the factory and lots of reputable shops have CNC programs to get 320+cfm out of intake side of things.
