Default New truck from dealer with clear film on...

I just picked up my brand new 2011 Sierra Crew a few days ago. Today I noticed that the front lip of the rear fenders and the bottom rear lip of the rear fenders have some type of clear film. It kind of looks like the stuff used for the front of the truck to protect against paint chips but I also read somewhere that it was supposed to be removed by the dealer when its prepped for sale.

I actually took delivery of the vehicle the same day it was delivered to them. Maybe they forgot to remove it? I am positive they didn't add it, it came from the factory that way.

Should I keep it or remove it?

Anyone add the clear film to the front for paint protection?

I bought mine used and it was on there, which means two dealerships left it on.

My new truck has them, I think they are supposed to be left on. I would say add the clear film in front of and behind your rear tires, and put a piece on the door and fender bottom behind your front tires. These areas get alot of stone chips.

Keep it on for as long as you can. It will start to yellow, but hopefully it will be after a few other chips are already in your truck.

They are supposed to be left on by the dealer I asked when I bought my truck. They will help out alot with protecting the paint for rock chips, all though I just had to pull the ones from in front of the back tires off because the truck is white and they started to get a yellow tint to them..If you want them off took like thirty seconds peeled off real easy...

Mine has them, and I saw them on new and used trucks at the dealer. I'm leaving them on since they will stop some rock chips and they don't show up too bad on the silver truck. If they yellow a lot in a few years I might re-think.

Factory paint protection that, as stated, is meant to stay. And if they yellow or peel off they are replaceable.

You can actually buy the stuff in sheets and cut whatever shapes you want. I'm thinking about doing that under molded mud guards. I had a set on an old Sonoma that actually wore through the paint.

works great under the edges of the mud flaps , I also put it on the tailgate spoiler and the bed rail protectors. Just left it out past each edge by about 3/16 of an inch ....
