How thick is the pipe that you use on the "pipe notch"?

alright heres mine..

made from 1/4 and 3/16 plate. fully welded in front and back side with the inner portion being filled also. now i cant remember if its 3/16 on sides and 1/4 around the notch part or vise versa. works great though and was much needed. my frame was mushroomed out and had welds on the bed sides break from the flexing.

i plan on using 5/16'' on all of mine... and making the side parts extend further out. and driling 1/2 holes so i can weld in parts of the plate.. more strength the better.

Cool, thanks for the pictures. Is there a certain amout of the frame I should cut? How much did ya'll cut into it?

Dont you guys have trouble with the diff hitting the bed with the extra travel? I dont have a notch. And with my axle on the 1/2" bumpstop, the rearend is hitting the bed.

Hitting the bed?


I'm not sure how you're hitting the bed without a notch. Maybe because of your smaller wheel/tire combo since I am on the stock 20s and am not haveing a problem.

My friend who went 6/9 had to cut his bed support over the axle pumpkin because it was hitting but that was it but he is lower and has a notch.
