Makes perfect sense to me man.

I don't like anything to look/sound modified too much..I was going to cut my exhaust off one time and weld a 3" or 3.5" pipe onto the stock muffler I dig the look of 3" exhaust, but Like to have it look and sound factory.

That's why I like turbos; totally make them sound stock 90% of the time. But uncork it and make tards look stupid.

If you don't see too much highway, you can try bigger gears and some smaller tires to make more effect. Something like a 28" tall tire and 4.10s That will jump and run...help out your 3rd gear at the track too.

Like maybe a Nitto 555 275/35/20. I know they're basically rubber bands, but 27.5" tall (3.75" sidewall)

Or 255/45/20...29" tall (4.5" side wall)
Stockers are 31.9" (5.95" sidewall)

Use this to play with sizing and gears

Well I figured since I did things alittle different why stop now lol!! So I was looking for a trans cooler. Everyone agreed the TRU COOL 40k is the way too go. In researching I saw someone on another truck forum suggest a 05 F250 6.0 trans cooler. After researching that alittle I decided to try it out! Check out the size of this ****!! According to the Ford guys the 02 v10 excursion cooler is the same as the TRU COOL 40K

It has 1/2 male end outlets to slip the hose on with a clamp. I ordered the Derale 3/8 hose compression fitting to 3/8 barb and 3/8 barb to 1/2 bard reducers.

I still havent been back to the track. Our local track had a fatality so they reduced it back to 1/8 mile. Ill probably still go run it just to see because I have the 4.8 slips to compare 1/8's.

I did buy one of the orignal G-TECH's. We tested it in my buddies 4x4 5.4L F150 that we took to the track last year around this time. It stock with a muffler. He has made no changes to it. He made 7-8 passes at the track running consistent 16.10-16.15@83/84mph. On the g-tech his best pass was a 16.00@84.

I ran my truck on it. My best g-tech times was a 14.29@94 and then a 14.34@95. I had to crack the throttle then roll into quickly because just flooring it will hammer the tires. Not saying these are legit numbers. Its just what we did to pass the time till the 1/4 is back up.

Finally made it too the track!! Unfortunately out tracked owner decided to make it an 1/8 mile track so I can only compare the 4.8 1/8 mile times.

Best ET/MPH
4.8
2.44 60ft
10.42 1/8
71 mph

6.0
2.17 60ft
9.17 1/8
78 mph

I can't say what the 1/4 would have been.. According the 1/8 to 1/4 charts my 4.8 should have run a 16.3 but it ran a 15.92. I'm very pleased!! The only changes are the ly6 shortblock and ls2 stock cam. Everything else is the same as the 4.8. Manifolds, cats, flowmaster muffler and eBay CAI. 6.0 has not been tuned.

So $300.00 out of pocket
Dropped 1.3 sec
Gained 7mph

Should be good for very low 14s as it sits, for comparison - here is my full slip from my truck:

2.141
6.133
9.315
77.69
12.026
14.321
98.02

You 60' similar, faster in the 1/8 by almost .15 seconds. Great budget build.

nice little setup but you got rid of the l92 heads for some 799s? Didn't read all the posts so correct time if I'm wrong but why would you not run the l92 heads?

That would be awesome!! I think with the newer trucks I will need to do more to keep up with them. Damn technology!!

A few reasons.. Looking at the dynos on L92 headed 6.0's I noticed the power and torque came in later then the 799's. I wanted to keep the power level down under 6k to save the 4l65 and have a fat low and mid range because the truck is heavy.

I also looked at the tbss times and mods. Tbss fly with bolt-ons and stalls. The have similar weight and gearing.

Also to keep the cost down.

The L92 is nasty but I'm of the opinion that with weight and something shaped like a brick pushing through the area I would prefer mid range over top end. I also spend a lot of time from idle to 3500rpm in day to day traffic so I wanted it to be peppy. With the L92 the comp was 9.6ish and with the 799 it's around 10.1-10.2
