Default HID Head/fog Lights

I looking into getting some HID 8000K head and fog lights and was wondering if there are any companies that I should stay away from, and if anyone had any problem with them.

There all hit or miss I've had many sets in different vehicles since 07 and have replaced (under warranty) 1 ballast and 1 bulb, just luck of the draw I think, last two sets I've gotten from eBay (only bulbs tho still running slim ballasts I bought in 08)

I'm thinking about going LED. I've had the LS square lens and I melted the ka-ka out of them with the HIDs. Now that I have the Tahoe lower valance and lamps, I'd like to protect what I got..

I just put 2 DDM slim kits in and not even a week old one of the fogs is out. Not sure if its the bulb or ballast but you will get mixed reviews. They have $35 & $40 kits.

TempestDirect is the best and brightest. They are worth every penny. I got the A/C sets that are much better than the D/C. Best ones i have found so far. 8K will have more blue..po-pos may not like those colors...lol.. 6Ks are what i ran in my G8 and they are awesome. I put cheapos in my headlights of my sierra and put Tempest A/Cs in my fogs and the fogs are brighter than headlights lol...G8 has all Tempests and looks awesome. I try post pics tomorrow when i get up ... straight nights here

I had THE HID FACTORY in Houston install 5K HID 35W lows and fogs on my 2011 Silverado 1500. The fogs were too bright to drive with because the reflectors threw light up too high and into the eyes of oncoming traffic. I removed the fogs and now looking for something suitable to color match the lows, likely LED bulbs. I later installed 55W ballasts on my lows and now they seem to 'pop on' and warm up quicker. The 55W ballasts also make the 5K lows look a little closer to crystal white which I like.

Just some observations on my truck I thought I'd pass on.....

I'd pass on the 8000K and go a little whiter. I also cannot run my fogs without blinding people in cars.
