Help please! 4.8 to 5.7

Hmm- these are some good things to know; swapping a GenIII block into a GenIV truck. 'cause I'm always thinkin' in the back of my mind that one day I'm gonna put an LS1 block in place of that 5.3.............

Just bore your 5.3. To the op, there are reluctor differences, to which they make fixes. Also as stated, research will clear this up instantly. Check out LS1tech for the guys who have done this.

to put that older motor in your truck you will have to tear the crank out and have the reluctor ring changed to a 58x and then swap front covers and cam gears. you will have to drill the side of the block to put the knock sensors in. also change the valley cover. you dont have 3 knock sensors on the 4.8 you only have 2. i feel it's worthless to swap in an LS1 in a GMT900 just grab a 6.0/6.2 for the same price and save your time of fighting the crank and other bs.

^^^ Werd. LS1's were only potent until people figured out that the 5.3 engines could have the same power output. They are cheaper and their reluctor is the same as yours (less work). I believe it was 2005+ LQ4's and LQ9's had the 58x as well and are still cheaper than the LS1...
