Gear swap

Finally getting around to changing my gears to correct for the oversized tires, got to thinking if Im going in for a gear change am I shooting myself in the foot for not putting in a tru-trac at the same time? Cant be much more labor?? Currently have the g80 which hasn't given me any trouble, but at 130,000 miles might be on borrowed time.

In other words, you have to do the same thing to pull and put back a G80. Might as well do it with a TruTrac.

I don't see why they would charge any extra. They won't have to remove the old ring gear or remove the old bearings from the carrier. Pressing on new bearings is simple and maybe takes 5mins

I don't disagree with you, but most shops aren't in it to do things for free. Ya pressing the bearings on is simple but they might still charge.

Correct, but my point was they wouldn't have to remove the old bearings or ring gear. It would likely be no extra charge because you're saving them the time and effort of removing the old stuff. If a shop charges you more money on top of the cost for a gear swap, then I would look elsewhere
