Default exhaust question

I want good sound for a good price. has anyone put on a glass pack on their truck? if so how do you think it would sound? how would it do with the droning from 4cyl mode? should be a god breather because it is petty straight through right?

Teach me guys please do not make fun of me.

you will hate it when d.o.d. kicks in, any glasspack, short bullet style, or boomy sounding chambered muffler will exaggerate the resonance in the cab, it will pulse and drone really badly. for something straight through with great flow look at magnaflow, like a 24" or 30" long case. they will still flow very well being straight through and you will still be able to tell its there at idle and during acceleration and it will have a very nice growl at wot, all while being unobtrusive in the cab at cruising speeds.

i have a 5"x8"x24" case magnaflow dumped in front of the rear axle and it has a nice quiet tone at idle and part throttle, but it sounds great at wot. while not the loudest setup (great because its not a cop catcher) it still has a great tone, with no interior drone down the highway.

if your looking to go cheap, i drove in a silverado that had high flow cats and no muffs with turn downs. sounded pretty good, with no drone, also it had no rasp at all! thats what surprised me...

if it was me i would save up for a magnaflow.

I like my Aerochamber. Stock Y pipe and cats to 3" pipe/muffler, it's dumped right at the spare tire before the hitch. Sounds great, cab drone is minimal until going uphill.

btw its the longest 3" muffler, can't remember the dimensions.

I bought a thrush stainless steel glasspack and dumped it before the rear wheel. It sounds great especially with LT headers. It doesn't sound that badly with DOD.

my 5x8x14 magnflow sounds pretty good with no drone. I hade it turned out with a side exit before rear tire with an echo tip. No drone. +1 for magnaflow.

I had my tuner remove the DOD, and I have pacesetter ceramic coated long tubes, deleted cats, 3'' y pipe with an electric cut out just before my 3" in 2x2.5" out BORLA muffler. Love this set up, because the Borla has a nice mellow tone while cruising and it has a nice rumble when go WOT. And when i want all out power/sound I just flip the switch and I set off alarms!!! sweet!!
