Default DOD delete without timing tensioner change?

Reading up on doing the DOD swap and nearly everyone has bad things to say about removing the oil pump because of the pickup o-ring. I am trying to figure out if anyone has done the swap and found their factory tensioner unbroken and left it in place. Seems like a lot of trouble in a 4x4 to potentially have to lower the oil pan and then cross your fingers you dont pinch the o ring while also having to re-center the pump around the crank. I feel like it is risky either direction, so what are the opinions on the subject?

I already bought the ls2 chain damper and had planned on the swap since ill be doing a cam and stronger springs. Definitely has me worried no matter which direction I go.

You have any problems with the tensioner already being released and getting the cam gear back on?

Saw the videos of the truck in your other thread, and it looks pretty quick for a big truck. How many rpm are you shifting at? Looks like you had track wheels, but couldnt tell what kind of tire.
