Would the rear differential off of a 09 Sierra Denali fit my 09 RCSB?
Its a 9.5" 14 bolt with what I believe are either 3.73 or 3.42 and rear disks.
Seems like it would, just thought I'd ask and make sure.

Btw, what would I need to swap out my 10 bolt rear end with drums for this rear end with disk? Any problems I would/could run into?

brake lines
brake cables
leaf spring u bolts
yoke may be different, therefore driveshaft
probably master cylinder and brake distribution valves. brake computer???

you could find a freindly guy at a GM parts counter to look up both setups and see what's different

 

...certain guys at the dealer dont like me too much. They dont like us modding our trucks and voiding our warranty.....oww and maybe because of the . I tried to get some wiring diagrams for the TUTD shifter and 6L80 and they refused until I got a VIN number for a truck with both, so I got it and they refused again cuz I wasnt the owner of said truck.

There really is a brake computer?

Yeah I knew I'd be needing brake lines and what not...and I could probably hold out on putting it in and do it at the same time I do the 6L80 so I get the correct yokes for both and driveshaft.

 

there would be alot of questions on this swap as it is new stuff and no history on it.
the brakes would be the biggest issue, even if you changed the stuff at the axle, the
m/cyl and distribution valves will likely be different but I can't say for sure, even the abs controller too.
the hard parts are easy to fiqure but knowing that you have the correct and safe
hydraulic balance isn't.
But, it could be a simple axle and rear brake swap and the brake stuff under the hood is ok.

 

get one from a denali truck. should bolt right in.
denali suv=coils
denali truck=leaf springs
your truck=leaf springs

Yeah I get what you mean allgonoshow, everything should bolt right in but everything may not end up working properly. I guess im going to have to do a little more reasearch and see if anyones done this before.

 

i want to do this w/ a vmax rearend mainly for the disk brakes and the beefier dif. i'm sure there's not much more than swapping the rear and the brake cpu. but i'm sure any unplugging and replugging of the brake computer will throw a code... just like when you take out the seats and put em back in(been there, done that)

 

The main reason I want to do the swap is for the bigger 14 bolt, and the disk brakes are a big plus too.

I never knew there was a brake cpu but now thinking about it it does make sense. So where is this brake cpu?

 

So the 09s have 14 bolt rears I didnt know that. My 08 has a 10 bolt with 3.42 gears.
