I'm putting a cat back on my '11 next week. Once I pull off the cat-back is it possible to gut that cat without removing anything else. Long screw driver and a hammer?

Not sure on the 2011 but there is 3 cats on the 5.3 2010 .......... the third is not a resonator .........with cat back off you pbly could gut the third cat but not the other 2 they are up high close to the manifolds

I don't live close to any tuners I would use. What would be the reasoning for a tune just because I delete the cat?

You only need to tune if you want the CEL turned off .......overall tune wont be effected that much by removing just the cats they are not that restrictive .... ecm can adjust for minor changes
