Any of you guys installed just the Airaid MIT and swapped out the filter to an AMsoil? Thats what I am thinking of doing, since it seems the most restrictive part of the stock intake is the tube.

The first thing I did was remove the screen when I bought the truck new at the end of 03. I also did this to my brother in laws 98 and my old 98 silverado. Never had one problem with idle or tuning. Aftermarket ones don't come with them. They removed them in the corvettes and gained I believe 5hp. There has and always will be the arguement over these screens, I myself have never had problems with it and stand behind it. I think it is personal preference. I did read the article about the vette and that was the only evidence I have seen to date that actually had a before and after dyno to show a difference. As far as reliability, my 98 had 105,000, my brother in laws has 180,000, and my 04 has 107,000 all with the screen removed.
