Just keep in mind it has to do with case size. If you want it to be louder pick up a smaller case size if you want quiet look for a case size around 18" long or larger. The Borla XR1 mufflers are awesome! they have a great sound.

i don't think any of the Borla mufflers or most mufflers of any brand that are as loud as Flowmaster 40's. Borla XR1's are going to be your loudest choice however for a Borla Muffler, go with the smallest body they make.

OK, I got a Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler leading into dual exits. But since the muffler is aluminized steel it is rusting pretty bad. I want to get a Borla XR-1 stainless steel muffler with turn down. I don't want any tips, I am planning to do a 4/6 drop also and I don't want to scrape with the tips. Would this be a good muffler for my truck?

I've got the XR1 on my truck and don't think it's really all that loud. But i'm use to cammed/LT F-bodies though.

When you drop your truck with a 4/6 that muffler will be alot closer to the ground and the exhaust bouncing off the road will make it alot louder inside your truck. If thats what your wanting you should be pleased. Or you can go with a dynomax bullet. Basically a glasspack, i had one on my firebird with a 350 dumped under it and it was WAY loud. and sounded good too.
